The Portuguese Society for Neuroscience is dedicated to advancing neuroscience research,supporting the scientific community,and promoting public understanding of the brain. Through scientific support, education, outreach initiatives, and recognition of excellence, we foster collaboration and strengthen the impact of neuroscience in Portugal and beyond.

Our Activities Throughout the Year

Throughout the year, we bring the neuroscience community together through meetings, conferences, awards, and initiatives that promote excellence, collaboration, and scientific impact.

Meetings

Every two years, The SPN meeting brings together the Portuguese neuroscience community to present and discuss the latest data, exchange information and new ideas, and, of course, to socialise, meet friends and have a great time.

Awards

Every year we recognize an outstanding publication from an SPN member with the SPN Best Manuscript Award.

We also support our members with Travel Awards for main conferences such as FENS and IBRO meetings.

Initiatives

SPN announces 2 calls per year to support Neuroscience initiatives (e.g. international conferences, symposia, workshops, meetings) held in Portugal that are dedicated to promote Neuroscience.

Brain Awareness Week

Every year we coordinate The International Brain Awareness Week in portugal kick starting it with a unique event that brings together researchers and the general public. We further support initiatives during this week with the goal of fostering public enthusiasm and advocacy for brain science
