Teresa Summavielle is a neuroscientist at i3S – Institute for Research and Innovation in Health, where she leads the Addiction Biology research group. She currently serves as Coordinator of the i3S Neurobiology and Neurological Diseases research programme, as well as Vice-Director of the institute. Her research focuses on the neuroimmune mechanisms underlying substance use disorders.

She teaches in Master’s and PhD programmes at FMUP and ICBAS, and is an invited professor at E2S (Escola Superior de Saúde, Polytechnic of Porto). Beyond academia, she has led, since 2008, a science-based campaign aimed at preventing drug use among adolescents. At the Federation of European Neuroscience Societies (FENS), she is a member of the Advocacy Committee.
